Our 2023 Scholarship Winners are Sidney Bernhardt and Jada Bell

The Burlington County Retirees’ Education Association would like to introduce you to the recipients of the 2023 Robert M. Oberholser / Harriet Di Leonardo Scholarships. Jada Bell from Pemberton Township High School and Sidney Bernhardt from Shawnee High School. Each recipient will receive a $2000.00 award.
Jada Bell will graduate from Pemberton Township High School and will attend Western Governors University, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
In the words of one of Jada’s teachers, “She takes A.P. courses and Honor courses yet still manages to participate in a variety of activities both within the school and in the community.”
Jada has been a member of the Field Hockey team, is active in the drama and music concerts, volunteers to teach Children’s Bible Study at her church and assists Special Education Students. She ranks 24 out of 241 students.
She is self-motivated, dependable, hardworking, dedicated and has proven her leadership skills.
Our next recipient is Sidney Bernhardt from Shawnee who will be attending Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania.
Sidney is a member of the National Honor Society, having taken both A.P. and Honors courses, and is active in many a varied activities in school and volunteer work within the community. She is the founder and President of the French Club and has held several different jobs since nineth grade. She is a member of the Knowledge Bowl and has a weighted GPA of 5.6.
One of Sidney’s teachers has described her as “consistently, cordial, gracious and thoughtful toward others, the ideal student who is engaged in each lesson, soaking up every bit of information possible.”
Sidney dreams of becoming a high school history teacher.
